The Jetsetting Brunette, also known as Mrs. Courtney Jones from Ontario, Canada, is a Human Resources Advisor now living in Sydney. From her first trip abroad to the Dominican Republic to her favorite destinations, Bali and Hawaii, she seems to be on constant journey for warmth and relaxation. But the top spots on her bucket list will cool her down: This 28 year old is dreaming of Iceland and Italy!

MM: Who’s your favorite travel companion?
CJ: My husband, John. We both have a serious case of the travel bug, which means he’s always up for having a couple of trips booked! We both work corporate jobs, but have still visited 10 countries in the past few years.

MM: What is your favorite destination? What makes it special to you?
CJ: This is a tough question, so I’m going to cop out and name a few! Bali, because there’s so much to see and do; Hawaii, because the people are amazing and the scenery is unreal; Sydney, because (I’d argue) it’s one of the best cities in the entire world; and Canada, because I’m from there and get all warm and fuzzy when I go back!

MM: What destination would you recommend for other females to visit?
CJ: I think it totally depends on your travel style, but I adore Seminyak, Bali! It’s a great place to go if you’re a bit past the backpacking stage, but still want lots of buzz where you can meet people. There are dozens of fab resorts, tons of amazing restaurants and bars, amazing shopping and some pretty ridiculously amazing beaches! If you’re a summer-girl/water-babe, this is the place to go for a holiday! There are also plenty of fun day trips if you want to spend some time doing something a bit more adventurous!

MM: Any advice to share with other female travelers?
CJ: My one piece of advice is to embrace spontaneity. Try not to worry too much when things don’t go the way you expect, because they often won’t. Choose to see the adventure in the misadventure. Sometimes, it’s those moments, the moments when nothing seems to be going right, that end up turning into some of the greatest memories of your life.

MM: What destination is on your radar? What about it attracts you?
CJ: Italy has been on my bucket list forever, but I keep putting it off to explore the other side of the world. There’s so much I want to see in Italy: Rome, Cinque Terre, Venice, Florence and on and on! And the food, and the wine!

MM: Have you travelled alone? Any advice for other solo adventurers?
CJ: I’ve only travelled alone for work. It’s weird, but I love being in the airport by myself sometimes. As soon as I clear security, I buy a magazine and settle at the bar with a glass of wine for some trashy reading and people watching! The lows are the obvious ‘missing people’. Traveling alone is good, but I also love having my husband as a travel buddy!

MM: What type of traveler are you?
CJ:
Semi-luxury, semi-adventurous. My travel style has shifted over the past 5 years; it started as budget, when I was backpacking Australia in a caravan. My travel style is now more aligned to luxury, with a side of adventure!

MM: Any thoughts about relationships and travel?
CJ: I honestly think travel can bring people closer. My husband and I have totally different hobbies, so travel is something we can share. When we’re not travelling, we’re usually planning a trip or reminiscing about a previous adventure.

MM: What is your most memorable travel moment?
CJ: Another hard one! I’d probably go with the time my (now) husband proposed. We were in a gorgeous wine region in Australia, the Hunter Valley, sipping champagne on the balcony of a boutique hotel. It was pretty special <3

MM: We can imagine what a life-changer that moment was, in the very best of ways! Sounds impeccable!
