Where Is She Now

I’ll do my best to keep you updated on WHERE IN THE WORLD I am!!

In June 2017, a trip through Eastern and Southern Africa ended in South Africa, and thanks to a stellar bearded bloke I met along the way in Zimbabwe (..best birthday present ever!) I was able to stay for the next many months, working alongside him and leading fun folk on adventure tours around the area (check out Freewalker Adventure Travel’s FB page to see what we got up to!)
I fell in love with everything about South Africa and managed to convince a school in Cape Town that I was worthy of teaching their students all about numbers and shapes. Come July, I’ll officially be back in the classroom teaching maths!

I’ve never felt so inspired, at peace, connected, and ‘ME’ than I have in South Africa (Check out this video I put together of highlights of my time there so far: Miss Maps South Africa). PS..that white thing I’m holding and am so clearly excited about is an oyster, fresh from / IN the sea 🙂

There are still a few months until the big return, and I am looking forward to it more than anything! (Is it too crazy to tell you I’ve got a countdown going on my calendar?? Don’t judge.)

Until then, it’s time for some Spanish practice. It’s been some time since I’ve been able to eat arepas con queso and chase down disgustingly cute Capybara… but I’m ready! I’ll be traveling by bus from San Jose, Costa Rica all the way up to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula to see the 4th of the 7 Modern Wonders of the World! Yeahhh! Then back to the States while my SA visa is processed fully, and finally…

Home 🙂

  1. Hi Annie,
Remember what I said, if you want to go to Moscow, let me know and we’ll try and set you up to stay with Olga’s relatives. Of course given that it’s almost November, I’d start heading in a more southerly direction. We may or may not get there next year. Went to Russian consulate yesterday to straighten out the girl’s paperwork so they can get their Russian passports. It turns out little RJ may be eligible for dual citizenship as well. Enjoy and be safe!
    Lots of love,
    Dad

    1. A year later… haha. I hope we can see each other now that we’ll be officially living on the same continent! Maybe a school conference will bring us together – or our own travels 🙂

    1. I’ll be there again the end of July… for three more years! We have breaks from class, so will probably travel then, but most of the time, I’ll be staying in Cape Town 🙂 Hope you can come!
